The Green Tara
Green Tara is a female Buddha and is regarded as protector against all risks you might run into during your life. She symbolizes strength, helps to regain one’s health rapidly and provides assistance in overcoming obstacles in life. She represents the maternal aspect of compassion. Her name is associated with the concept of "crossing", which protects people while they cross the "Ocean of Existence". She is sometimes seen as a guide in our personal development and encourages us.
According to legend, she originated from a tear of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig). Her colour is green and in her hand she holds a lotus, it is blue and half-opened, and it is the symbol for purity, strength and pure femininity. Sometimes she has seven eyes: the third one is in the middle of her forehead (Eye of Wisdom). She is also honoured as the mother of present, past, and future.
